Happy Mail, Junk journal

Amazing happy mail from Libby

Amazing happy mail from a lovely lady in America who has bought three of my journals.

She is one of my biggest supporters and her happy mail left me in shock.

I had tears in my eyes opening each package. So overwhelmed by her generosity and support.

I loved it all and wanted to include so much in my personal journal, so, I dedicated four pages to this happy mail:

I had fun decorating the pages by collaging my favourite items.

So thankful and blown away. Nothing can express my gratitude.

Here’s a video of the unboxing:

Blue Delight Journal

Loved making this journal so much.

The book I used is called A Book of Delight, so I took that as my inspiration and named this Blue Delight where the idea behind it was to create a mystery box/happy mail in a journal.

It’s packed full of items in pockets and tucks that can be pulled out and used in other creative projects.

Lots of people and countries represented in this journal as I tried to include items from all the happy mails I’ve received.

So amazed that this journal sold yesterday. So exciting! Hope the lovely lady loves this journal with all its delightful surprises.

More happy mail from two lovely ladies

I was amazed to get all these lovely fibres from Sue. She already sent me a package that was massive. Love the vibrant colours. I’m thinking boho, mermaid, and forest journals are in the making with these.

Then the lovely Tonia sent me these amazing trims:

So excited to make pockets with them and do some sewing with them.

Happy mail from Andrea

Thank you so much to Andrea for sending a lovely happy mail that I could use to decorate this middle page of my 2018 journal.

Here’s the package she sent me:

I especially love the lace and have already used some of it to decorate the spines of some of my journals.

And she sent me my first piece of cheesecloth. I’m so excited because I’ve been wanting some. I’d love to be able to sew it and making collages with it when I’m more confident with the sewing machine.

More happy mail from Sweden

Got this beautiful package from the lovely Marit.

She wanted to send me the horses, but I didn’t realise she was sending everything else.

I love the journaling cards and tags that are backed on coffee-dyed paper.

She got this package so right with the blue birds, blue butterflies, and peacocks.

Will definitely have fun using them in journals.

Happy mail from Christa at 2nd Chance Creations

I’m so blown away by this happy mail from Christa.

I wasn’t feeling well the day I got it, but when I got home from work and saw the package with the happy mail sticker, I couldn’t help but smile.

She reached out to me after seeing some of my YouTube videos where I mentioned how it was hard to get supplies in the small country town where I live. She said she’d send me some napkins, lace, and fabric.

I thought she’d just send a few bits of each but she gave me a massive package! It was full of so much lace that I absolutely adore. Plus the napkins, fabric, and so much more. Wow!

I’m so thankful for her generosity, and just love the amazing group of fellow junk journalers I’ve found. And look at how much blue she included! She definitely knows my favourite colour.

Here’s the spread I did dedicated to Christa’s happy mail in my 2018 journal:

Here’s a video of me opening the happy mail but beware of massive excitement:

A thank you gift for Kathy

I’m sending this little bit of happy mail to one of the ladies who helped me come up with a business name.

She suggested Blue Willow and even shared a picture for inspiration. I loved the name but it’s actually the name of a type of pattern, so I didn’t want anyone to be confused with that.

I wanted to thank Kathy anyway since I would have taken that name otherwise.

She said she liked flamingoes so I went for a pink theme and included a few flamingo images.

Hope she likes it.

A look at my 2018 junk journal

I thought I’d share an update of hour my 2018 junk journal is going.

On the inside of the cover I stick all the photos and ephemera I want to use in the journal.

I use this journal to record the major events and memories I want to record for the year. It’s loosely chronological but sometimes I choose a page spread that suits what I’m recording.

Here is a spread recording my first pair of demi-pointe shoes:

This spread records a spontaneous stay I had in Mornington with a friend. We saw The Greatest Showman at the cinema, ate ice-cream and did a lookout walk along the coast. I also discovered the shop Page8 and bought a twin set of journals.

Some people collect spoons or postcards or coffee mugs when they visit a place; I like to collect notebooks.

This spread records my new favourite magazine: Daphne’s Diary that I read from cover to cover then cut up and use in my junk journals.

This page records some happy mail I received from America:

This page records happy mail I got from Germany:

This page records a traditional walk I take my niece and nephew on each year when I go to Melbourne over the summer holidays. We collect bottle caps at the local footy oval and categorise them and compare them to the year before.

Hope you liked my journal so far.

I’ll share another update when I’ve got more pages done.
