Journal with me: An insight about flowers

I loved journaling about this insight a friend gave me about flowers.

Flowers give of their beauty and ask nothing in return.

This reminds me that this is the same for people. We give something good to others just as we are.

Sunflower Journal (custom order)

I was so honoured to be asked to make this journal for a lovely lady who has scleroderma. The emblem of the Australian Scleroderma Association is the sunflower, so she wanted the main theme to be sunflowers.

She also likes butterflies, ladybirds, and especially dragonflies, so I included all these too.

I didn’t have any sunflower items in my stash, so I bought my first digital kit from the amazing Artymaze. I actually got two: the sunflower one and the dragonfly one.

I’ve had my eye on the dragonfly dreams kit for a while now and it’s the one I’ve wanted the most, so I was glad for this excuse to get it – hehe.

I love the trims and the charms on the side:

And the papers and ephemera are so beautiful.

The lady said she wasn’t fussed about lots of writing space but she likes all the tucks and flips and flaps and gets excited when she watches me pull things out in my journal flip throughs.

Here’s a look at some of my favourite pages:

I interspersed pages from the kit with coffee-dyed papers and some pages from my stash that relate to flowers or sunshine.

I included a page with the lyrics to ‘You Are My Sunshine’ and also some sheet music for ‘Over The Rainbow.’ Amazingly, the lady said they brought a tear to her eye because her mum sang ‘Over The Rainbow’ to her as a child and her daughter loved ‘You Are My Sunshine.’

I love it when things like that happens. I let her know I always pray while I make a journal that the journal will include things that will mean something to the person getting the journal even if I don’t know them. I trust this will happen because it’s happened so often and God knows what will speak to people.

I hope my journals bring comfort, joy, peace, and encouragement to people. I pray they bring light and a little bit of God into their lives wherever they are.

Birds Faith Journal (custom order)

Here is the second journal I’ve made for a lady in America who orders two faith journals.

This time she wanted some poetry included, so, I had fun doing that.

Here’s a full flip through:

I’ve had lots of questions about how I make these journals and what supplies I use, so, I will share that in a future video and hope it’s helpful.

Pink faith journal (custom order)

Loved making this faith journal for a lovely lady who contacted me through Etsy and ordered two of these journals.

She wanted a pink one and a teal one. Since I already had pink paper and ribbon, I made this one first.

She said she liked birds, butterflies, music, my landscape photos, and stories from both the old and new testament, so, I tried to include all of these in the journal.

I did a flip through so she could see it and I’m so glad she loves it.

Four faith journals

I got a custom order from a lady who want four faith journals to give to her friends.

Here are the covers:

They’re all a little different, but all have the same sort of style with the same range of papers.

Here’s a look at what they look like on the inside:

Love making these journals. Got an order for two more – yay! So, I’m making a bulk lot of four-six faith journals and hopefully the lady likes two of them.

Here’s a flip through of each journal:

Flip-through of the ‘morning to night’ faith journal

Here’s a look at all the cool pages in this faith journal.

I wasn’t feeling the best when I filmed this, so sorry I’m a bit flat in this video. Plus, I’m still awkward – haha! I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to talking while filming myself (or my hands).

But I love sharing my creations, so I’ll keep doing it and hope you enjoy seeing what I make.

‘From morning to night’ faith journal

The idea behind this was a ‘morning to night’ faith journal with a sunrise and sunset on the front and back covers.

Just an encouragement for whoever gets this journal that God is always with them and they can stay connected to him every second of the day.

I like that the back cover with the palm trees actually reminds me of where I live in north Qld.
