This is what my room looks like when I’m coffee-dyeing paper.
I used my last coffee-dyed paper so I needed to make another batch. So far I’ve done two-nights’ worth of dyeing. I think I want to do one more night so I won’t have to do this again for a long time.
I could never do a coffee dye bath at night. The scent of coffee would urge me to drink some, and then I’d never sleep! I loved the smell of coffee long before I liked the taste. 🙂
Have you ever done paper marbling? That’s something I’d love to try, but I’ve always been afraid to invest in the special chemicals/inks without someone to show me how.
I dye silks, though, and self-taught for that. I love to see the white silks grab hold of such vibrant colors. Protein fibers (silk, wool) take up color so easily compared to plant fibers (cotton, rayon, paper.) The process is like magic to me!

The coffee smell was quite strong. Luckily I’m not a coffee drinker.
I haven’t done paper marbling. I’ve only heard about it once before but not really sure what it involves. Maybe if I see fellow junk journalers do it I’ll get inspired to try it.
