Happy Mail

Next happy mail to the Netherlands

Here’s the next package I’m sending overseas for a happy mail swap.

I’ve now got the goal to do a happy mail swap with people from as many countries as possible.

So far I’ve got Australia, USA, UK, Germany, Sweden, and now the Netherlands.

I’m hoping to do one a month.

Junk journal

Book haul for junk journals

I picked up these twenty books from a neighbour yesterday.

She knew I made junk journals and asked me if I’d like to go to her house and pick out some old books that she was going to get rid of.

Of course I jumped at the offer. I could have taken more books but I didn’t want to fill my house with them. Not until I have a better storage and production system, at least.

I took a whole bunch of books for their covers. Some I took for their pictures, and others for their pages that I can use in junk journals.

Time to get busy crafting!

Junk journal

Green vintage junk journal

I made a second journal in this book cover series, this time a green one.

I made it in the vintage style with coffee-dyed papers and my usual range of papers that include music paper, book pages, scrapbook paper, paper bags, note paper, colouring pages, and magazine pages from my favourite magazine called Daphne’s Diary.

I also included some Project Life cards and some flaps, pockets, and an envelope.

Here’s a look at some of the spreads:

Junk journal

Junk journal made from free printables

I love this junk journal. It’s blue, vintage, and I tried a few new embellishing techniques with some beautiful printables. I especially love the jars.

Here is the front with a postcard in a pocket with a bird:

Here’s a jar tuck spot with a journal card:

Here’s an embellished envelope with a joournaling card inside:

I made a pocket out of a piece of vellum. I love how you can see the tag and journaling card through the pocket:

This time I used the jar as a tuck spot for a small journaling card. I also love the dress on the sewing pattern page on the other side:

For this one I used a journal card as the pocket and put a jar and tag in it:

Here is the back with another pocket and a large journal card:

New junk journal series

I am so loving this paper bag journal idea. After making the blue one for me, I’ve been busy making some for my shop.

All of them are in the vintage style with coffee-dyed papers.

I made a purple-themed one:

I made a pink-themed one:

Then I made one out of free printables:

I’ll share more photos of this one in the next post as I experimented with embellishing the pages in new ways.

Junk journal

Latest junk journal made from a paper bag

This is my latest personal junk journal. I was inspired to make it when I saw a fellow journaler create one to record her journaling ideas and happy mail.

I’m going to use mine to record the journals I make, inspiration, people to send happy mail to, craft items to buy, etc.

I started by going through my craft supplies and gathering anything blue or vintage.

I made this journal out of a paper bag, also inspired by a fellow journaler who made such a beautiful journal.

Who knew a paper bag could turn into something so amazing.

I decorated the cover with some journal cards I got from happy mail and I love that I can store the leftover ones in the opening of the bag on the cover.

I included scrapbook paper, papers I got from happy mail, note paper, and other random papers.

The aim was to have as much writing space as possible.

I also embellished the pages to add interest and so I don’t have to decorate later; I can just concentrate on writing.

Some of the embellishments I made and were inspired by fellow junk journalers.

Love this journal!

Here are the videos that inspired it.
